To many of us, our pets are family members…
|
|
But if these family members are ill or injured, we cannot call the local
Emergency Medical Services. This course is designed to give pet lovers the
information and skills required to stabilize an injured animal until qualified
veterinary care can be accessed.
We emphasize preventing illness and injury, the importance of
early veterinary care and the appropriate restraining of an injured animal.
We help you develop an emergency action plan which can be used for any emergency.
The most important goal of this CPR/Pet First Aid course is to teach you not
only how to recognize and respond effectively to emergencies, but also how
to prevent these emergencies in the first place.

The importance of pet first aid.

During the course you will be able to practice most of the skills on live
animals. Students are encouraged to bring their pets to the course as long
as they are healthy, up to date on vaccinations, and get on well with people
and other animals! State of the art dog and cat
Rescue Critters!® brand Animal Training mannikins will be used to practice CPR compressions,
rescue breathing and abdominal thrusts.
In an emergency having the knowledge of first aid and keeping calm can be
most valuable The techniques are easy to use and simple to perform. This
course is not intended to be a substitute for professional care, but the
knowledge provided in the course will enable you to recognize symptoms of
disease which will allow you to work and cooperate more effectively with
your veterinarian.
